Power Outages & Water Pressure Issues

Dear Semiahmoo residents,

I wanted to send everyone a quick recap of the power and water utility issues the community experienced last week.

A portion of the Semiahmoo community experienced low water pressure starting on Monday July 1 and lasting until Wednesday July 3. The Issue emanated from the pump station and required parts to be ordered and installed to fix the problem.  If you are still experiencing pressure issues, please contact the Public Works Department to let them know.

The second utility issue was the widespread power outage experienced by most of our residents.

The outage was caused by the failure of two cables. Public Works fixed one cable issue and during restoration, the second cable failed. There were some residents and businesses who were without power for over 3 hours. The following link will explain in detail the issue.

In the event of a power outage, SRA staff goes around as soon as possible, and opens all gates so that residents can travel in and out of the communities. Normal gate access is restored when we know the power outage has been remedied. In the case last week, the outage was off and on and it caused some internal damage to the workings of some of the gates and fountains thus delaying the normal operations of those items. Please contact the SRA office if you notice things like the gates or fountains not working. If it is an emergency, and it’s after hours, please contact the after-hours emergency number. Please do not contact the emergency number for power or water issues. Please contact the Public Works Department directly.
