Community Spotlight: Sabrina Boczek

Sabrina

There are not many Semiahmoo natives, but Sabrina Boczek comes close.  Sabrina moved to Semiahmoo when she was 11 months old and has lived here for the past 16 years.  Frequently we see people retire to a community like Semiahmoo so they can enjoy their “golden” years.  Sabrina, as well, would call her last 16 years at Semiahmoo “golden” too.  From her perspective, it has been an ideal place to grow up.  The community support of her friends and neighbors in Boundary Ridge has helped her achieve her high level of success in public education.  Sabrina has been a student in the Blaine School district since kindergarten and this year as a junior she serves as the ASB President.  The ASB is the school organization that plans school activities to create a spirit of encouragement and support for all students through formal and informal activities, grade-level competitions, community awareness projects, cultural events, and Staff Recognition.  This year Sabrina has taken a post-pandemic organization and transitioned staff and students to pre-covid involvements.  Sabina manages this leadership position while maintaining a 4.0-grade point average.  A determined and hard-working student, this year she won first place in the Washington State Technical Student Association for her CAD 3-D engineering design.  She has competed through the school music program in the acclaimed San Juan Music Festival with her trumpet and tuba.  Like many of us that choose to call Semiahmoo home, Sabrina loves the proximity to Mt. Baker/Whistler for skiing.  She also appreciates and takes advantage of the tennis program with Eric Cramer at the Semiahmoo Golf and Country Club.  As a resident of Semiahmoo, she has volunteered for the Blaine food bank, the Friends of the Blaine Library, and is always willing to lend an extra hand when a neighbor needs some extra help.  She truly shows all of us what a good citizen can be.  The unparalleled natural beauty of Semiahmoo makes it a wonderful place to call home but it is people like Sabrina that make this such a remarkable place to live.
