Dear Association Member:

The Semiahmoo Resort Association (SRA) Board of Directors is seeking interested candidates to serve on the Election Committee. The Election Committee was established in 2009 by the SRA Board to manage the election process for all future SRA Board of Directors’ elections. Two committee positions are open for 2013. The term of office for each committee member shall be two (2) years with members serving staggered terms. Each year the Board shall appoint one (1) or two (2) new committee members, selected from association members who have submitted their names for appointment. The qualifications, service and duties of Election Committee members are as follows:

Qualifications:

	Candidate must be an SRA member in good standing, i.e., no outstanding association issues, fines or liens in place and assessment payment current as of the time of application
	Candidate for the Election Committee cannot be a candidate for the Board of Directors or related to a candidate or a member of the Board.

Service:

	Service shall be on a calendar year basis, with most of the service being May through October, based on an October annual meeting.
	Time requirements are anticipated at an average of three (3) hours per month, with some months less and some (May through October) more.

Duties:

	To solicit qualified association members as candidates to serve on the Board;
	To contact each candidate and explain the duties and responsibilities of board members;
	To review candidate applications and verify that candidate qualifications are met;
	To monitor candidate compliance with the rules for campaigning;
	To prepare ballots to be mailed to SRA voting members; and;
	To receive, validate and store the ballots, tabulate the votes, and notify the association members of the newly elected directors.

The work of the Election Committee provides our association with a precise, uniform election process vital to the continued success of our SRA board elections.
